I'm new and I don't know how to pray. Where do I start?

There is the Jordanville Prayer Book, which is put out by Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York. Highly recommend this. It's the standard resource for learning how to pray. I also recommend Way of a Pilgrim, which is a good introduction. Those are two good introductions. But the reason that we have the prayer book is so that the prayer book can guide people in the morning and evening. They can learn how to pray. It's kind of like, in some ways, I don't want to say it's praying with training wheels, but there's a little bit of that. Like we learn how to pray by praying with and alongside the saints. You can also get the book of Akathists to various saints. There's two volumes of it. But that's another wonderful resource for people. And then other than that, I would just recommend, go, go, go, go. Go to the Divine Liturgy. Go to the holy services. See how people pray. Pray alongside them. And it's kind of like anything, it's a little bit of following after what those around you are doing. So, kind of like a child, you kind of see your parents praying or your grandparents praying, and so intuitively you learn how to pray, because you watch their disposition, how they make the sign of the cross, how they bow, how they stand attentively. In all those ways you begin to cultivate the understanding of what prayer is and how to pray. And so I definitely would recommend, go to the liturgy, go to the services, see how people pray. And then those prayer books are helpful for being at home.
