Why do Orthodox Christians kiss the priest's hand?
This is why, when we give the blessing and somebody kisses the right hand of the priest, they are not kissing Father Moses's hairy right hand. They are actually kissing the hand of Christ himself. There's a very funny story about this with a priest monk who knew St Paisios. And St Paisios said, give me your blessing. And he said, I'm not worthy for you to kiss my hand. And he said, I'm not trying to kiss your hand. It's not about the priest. It is about Christ being mystically present. So these things are all found in the church fathers, and they are indisputable. This is the historical teaching of the Orthodox Church. There has never been another teaching.
