Why does it feel like God gave me the wrong life?

When we see the lives of the saints, we realize that the externals don't matter. The externals don't matter, but the number one thing that does matter is the internal state of the heart and the way in which each one of them embraced their life. So many times people, their whole life of salvation is wrapped up in the very things that they're fighting against, that they're grumbling about, the very things that they don't want to be doing. It's like each person has a cross that they must carry in the Christian life, and so many times people are like, "This is a nice cross, but I think, Lord, you have the wrong one for me. I can see that you gave me mahogany. I was really hoping for red oak. And I know that you're powerful, maybe you can move things around at the lumber yard and give me the better cross, which is not my cross." See, the saints did not live like that. The saints fully embraced whatever their circumstances were: ordained, not ordained, male, female, it didn't make a difference. All of their life was centered on that one reality.
