Manhood
Why does my thinking still feel stuck in high school?
One of the things that I've seen over 12 plus years of priesthood and working with numerous young men is this kind of unchecked thought patterns that are so often governing men's lives, which are a natural byproduct of the fact that they didn't grow up in an environment that helped them to mature. And so oftentimes we rely on these thought patterns that are kind of woven into the matrix of our mind. I noticed in my own life, when I was in my mid-20s and really began to explore what it meant to break free of the juvenile behaviors, enter into manhood and embrace life, my wife, have children, create a family, that so much of my thinking was stuck in my junior high and high school years, and I didn't even realize that that's where I was at mentally, emotionally, and developmentally.
