What do we do when my spouse and I want completely different things for our family?

What else do I notice? Lack of common vision. Two people will get together because they have these complementary strengths and weakness dynamic that they've rested their relationship on, and then they come to building a family and having children and making decisions, and before you know it they realize they don't have the same vision. The introvert wants to do things one way, the extrovert wants to do things one way. The person who's more socially engaged says, oh, we've got to get them involved in five different sports. And the person who's more of a homebody says, why would we do that? Why would we drag ourselves around to five different locations every week? I want to be home. I don't want to be driving around. This is again one of those areas that people run into in marriage, and it creates this friction, this incongruence, and they start to think, man, I've married the wrong person, because I wanted somebody who would go along basically with everything that I wanted. And that's the underlying lie.
