Why does the news make me so afraid all the time?

So this victim mindset that is so prevalent in the news is there for one purpose and one purpose only. It gets people hooked on fear. That's the drug and the lie that it's selling. So if it can get people tapping into the news media by fear, which we know is the most efficient and effective way for a news organization to build viewership. Right, they've done studies on this: when they do positive things they have much less engagement. So they're automatically trying to sell a product, which is grabbing your attention, and they do that through the negativity of fear.
