Will people judge me if I walk into an Orthodox church for the first time?

The reality is that most people, whether you're in church or somewhere else, are usually just thinking about themselves. The reality is that if you go to an Orthodox church and just basically stand still and don't really do anything, nobody will know that you're Orthodox or not, aside from maybe making the sign of the cross. So what I would say is go and be part of the church. If you say, I have kids, and that's difficult, well, the reality is every Orthodox family has kids, and we've all been humbled and embarrassed by them, myself included, when I'm giving a homily and my six-year-old runs up to the front of the church and starts finger-shooting his brothers during my sermon. Is that humbling and embarrassing? Yes, it is. We've all been there. If you bring your kids in and they fidget and move around and squirm and do whatever and talk to you and want to go out for a walk, are we going to be scandalized? Absolutely not. It's normal. This is all normal stuff.
