Can a Christian lose their salvation?

Reacting to a Protestant panelist who holds that salvation is never in question even while sinning, he argues the position ignores its own implications. He points to Revelation 3:5 — only he who overcomes will not be blotted out of the book of life — as implying that those who do not persevere can be blotted out. His conclusion is that Christ requires people to live according to the profession of their faith, and that those who do not will not be saved.
